During a Choreodrome residency at The Place during the Summer of 2018, Thick & Tight collaborated for two weeks with musician & performer Josh Spear and designer & performer Tim Spooner. The time was spent exchanging ideas and specific process involved within their own practice including music composition, design, lip-syncing and choreography. 

 

The work culminated in a film, all shot in one studio over several days.

 

Through research into disparate interests and shared aesthetics, they created a film which was part space odyssey, part investigation of Gay Conversion Therapy and part portrait of a transgender taxi driver from Hull dreaming of a new life on Mars.
